Well, looks like "holiday Bazaar" Season is not doing so well for me.

So far, only have participated in 2, when I should have done 5.

My health and pain has taken it's toll on me, and my Lupus, Congestive heart failure , arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc., always love to gang up on me and kick me in the face. I literally could not hold anything in my hand without dropping/spilling it this past week.

I am trying to suck it up and get ready for another bazaar that happens on Sat. in the Garden Home area, at the Rec. center. Sienna and Dave are also tired of this endless crafty craziness, but they aren't being much help. So poo on them!

What I need is a ligitimate job I can do at home, one that makes $$.

Because if not, we are not going to be able to keep the house.

It's really depressing!

ANyway,

I may or may not be in 2 more bazaars.

Back to REALITY!

Had a restful and fun weekend with my friends, at a CM Scrapbooking Retreat (hosted by Debby Lazarone and her team).

Didn't get much scrapbook work done, but I did eat great food, got pampered, relaxed, and had some girl time with my BFFs! What more can a Mom ask for?

Well, maybe a little shopping on the way home. A quick stop at the Troutdale Outlet mall did the trick.

Highlight of the trip, I won a prize at the CM retreat (2 sets of CM pens) and I did take some awesome flowers and up-close funky fungi photos, on my walk at the resort.

Ok, trying again...

This time I will try harder to post more often.

Today, I am getting inspiration from my new ATC friend, and fellow Oregonian, Diane Johnson, who makes ATCs and blogs her art daily at http://www.nwatcart.blogspot.com/

I have been making some real progress at creating my own ATCs. In the last few days, I have made 3 sets of them. To get my creative juices flowing, I started off with an easy, safe, stamped, 3D image, of a hot air balloon and some clouds. I think it's an American Crafts stamp set. I used blue ink spray for the background sy, and colored the rest with my copic markers. I also added sparkle with a glitter pen. (you can't really see the glitter on the clouds and balloon in this pic) And for the dimension, I popped up the balloon with foam tape.

The second one I did is for an Eiffel Tower ATC swap:

They are all a little different, but part of a "set". Technically, they are not a "set" because "sets" are supposed to be exactly the same, but I have taken the artists prerogative and call them a set. LOL!

I have also FINALLY taken pics of the canvases I finished weeks ago. I do have plans on creating more... but per doctor's orders, I have to stay away from the art supplies until the mysterious rash that plagues me, goes COMPLETELY away. ~sigh~

Thinking the Mod Podge is the culprit!

Yeah, well I know I am kinda late in saying "Happy New Year", but hey, it's only the 17th of January!

I got a good start on the NEW year by cleaning & reorganizing my Craft room. I could see my work table...until I started crafting in there. Now it is again buried, but at least it is covered with a project!

(hopefully tomorrow) I will post a bunch of pics of the BIRTHDAY CARDS I have been working on,

and also my 1st SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT of the year!

The photos are a little old, but I don't scrap in any order.

But what I have for you now are some fun pics,

of our newest addition to our kitty family,

My buddy boo, Max,

aka Maxy, aka Boy! (since he is our only boy cat).

He is also my guard "dog",

who follows me to every room I go to,

makes "er" growly noises, and fetches his favorite toys.

He graciously let me photograph him while he cleaned himself tonight.

Photo tip: Try to figure out your camera's features on "continuous shooting", before you actually try to use it for an action shooting session!

He got tired of the flash and stopped to hide his head from the meanie with the bright thingy!

I think he wanted to take a bite of the camera by the time I stopped!

If you love Disney and Fairy tales and love to let your imagination run wild every once in awhile then this crop will be perfect for you.Come and join us for Challenges and games that the DT has worked hard to come up with and that all have a fairy tale twist. We are saying goodbye to our furr-baby Steiner today.
We had her since she was a kitten,& she has been part of our family for 18 years. Unfortunately she is not doing well and living an uncomfortable life.
We hope that she will love her new home at the Rainbow Bridge with her friend Prince.
We know she will wait for us there, living happy, in the sun, until we can join her. We will all miss constant search for heat, her demanding attention, and her loving gaze. Her time with us has been besutiful and we will forever miss her tremendiously.

Faux Rip and Stitch Technique

The rip and stitch technique involves paper or cardstock, being Machine stitched to a backing and then torn.
But, if you are machine-less, like me, you are going to like what I am going to share with you -
a Faux Rip and Stitch Technique, which involves no sewing at all, and looks just as fantastic!

Materials
Single sided pattern paper and or scraps, fast drying adhesive/glue (I used Pioneer Embellishment glue stick), Paper piercer, self healing mat, and white gel pen (I used white Uniball Signo pen http://shop.serendipityscrapbooks.com/scrapbook-supplies/sanforduniballsignopenwhitegel.html ).

Disclaimer: ***You may want to practice steps #1 & #2 on some scraps before actually applying this technique to your LO.

Method

1. Cut or tear piece of paper about an inch thick and as long as you would like your “rip” to be.
Working with one strip of paper at a time, run a thin line of adhesive in the direction you want your stitching to run.
Place the strip over the line of glue and press down firmly, to make sure it is attached well.
Allow a few minutes for glue to dry.

2. When you are sure the paper is glued down, you are ready to rip.
Holding one end of the paper with your fingers, tear along the length of the strip, in the direction of the glue.
Try not to be too neat, and allow the white parts of the tear show.
Repeat this step with the other side of the strip of paper, making sure you leave enough pattern showing- to be able to “stitch” along.

3. Using a paper piercer, pierce holes in a straight line, along the full length of the torn paper strip, spacing the holes 1/8” inches apart.

4. Using a gel pen, draw a dashed line between the pierced holes.
The color of your pen forms the color of “thread” that the strip is “stitched” in.
Repeat these 4 steps with other strips of paper, building up layers for depth and dimension.

Serendipity Scrapbooks is pleased to announce our first ever month long CROP!

Are you ready for a Hair Raising Event? I know we are. And we have so much in store for you for the month of May. Every Design Team member has 50 points to give away during the month and even some RAKs for you. Now the Rules:

- Only newly created layouts will be accepted for the month long crop.

- No combining of challenges.

- Please keep track of your points in the POINTS THREAD! This crop is way to long to add them to your signature so I will have a points thread available for you. Grab your spot and start adding up the points. With each challenge or points that are give out, the DESIGN TEAM will let you know who won. Oh and don't you worry, the Design Team will be keep track of points also because they are going to be throwing them at you all during the month.

- We will not be counting posting in the forum for this crop, UNLESS one of the Design Team members offers it up for the challenge.

- For layout challenges that are posted, you will recieve points from our Design Team. Most of the layout challenges will be worth 10 points but the Design Team will prompt you on how much the challenge is worth. This is why it is so important for you to keep track and name each point in your point thread.

- BLS will not be announced to the public but put in the forum here. They can and will pop up at any time. Please follow the BLS rules when placing your order. No other discounts will be applied other than the normal BLS discount.

But, I have been busy working on design projects and taking care of our ill cat Steiner as well as our NEW kitten "Angel".

As you can see, she is a very active, HEALTHY, kitten. She spends her day exploring, playing, and then cat napping.

I will try to do better blogging.

We will miss you Prince!

Today was the hardest day of my life. I had to make the decision to take my Princey poo in to the Vet to be euthanized. Even now, writing this, my tears are flowing. He blessed us with four months of his life. Unfortunately, at least half of it was him not feeling well. Prince had been diagnosed with the FIP virus. At his age, Prince should have been an active playfuk kitten, but instead he was a tired withdrawn. He spend most his last days curled upo with Steiner, our eldest cat, in the heated cat bed.

We know he is now happy, at Rainbow Bridge, and free to be a kitten. Playing with balls and string to his hearts delight. We know he wanted to play here with us, but was unable to. So, now at the Rainbow Bridge, he will have other animals to play with and keep him company until we meet again. And cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

We will always remember our special, light blue eyed boy, who stole my heart the first time I saw him. My heart is now aching for him, I hope he can forgive me for doing what I did. I will always love you my Princey Poo, my poo poo boy.

Sienna is back too school, and back to her spunky self, after being away from school for about 4 weeks.

The snow has finally left, as with the rain, hopefully bringing only sunshine for the rest of the spring (I know- wishful thinking for here in Oregon!).

I just sent in my application for the Serendipity Scrapbooks 2009 DT Call.

Snow is finally melting....

Here are some pics of Sienna and Dave the day after we came home from Hawaii.

Hawaii was fun, but was in a state of emergency when we got there. A storm was kicking it's island booty and flooding many places out of house and home. Luckily my parents didn't live in those places.

Sienna did enjoy playing in the snow, while it seems those kids who already had it for a week, were kinda tired of it. But, she didn't care that she didn't get any playmates to play with her. But, its snow and we don't get it often, so she played. I did give some food coloring to experiment with in the snow. She had fun making and mixing snow food. Oh and Dave loved the snowball fights!

Here is a look into mine:

I didn't really have any idea of what I wanted to do. But I did know that I should use some of the stamps that I bought in the last few months.

I also knew I wanted to play with my set of twinkling H2Os, to give my card glitter and shine.

One surprising element turned out great. The black and white pattern paper is actually a paper napkin, that I glued down with embellishment glue stick.

Congestive Heart Failure - What da ?#@% is that?

I have had a roller coaster summer.First of the excitement of searching for and BUYING our FIRST house!And then now suffering from yet another health problem.
i don't know how many of you know that I have Mixed Connective Tissue disease, a chronic disease that i will live with the rest of my life. This strange disease is cannot be defined as it can have many diseases within the mix. But, They are all autoimmune diseases, where basically your body attacks itself. I have a combination of lupus, fibromyalgia, raynaud's phenomenom, arthritic psoriasis, inflamation, fatigue, GERD, etc.But, the point is this past month i found out that I have yet another debilitating disease...Congestive Heart Failure. My husband eneded up taking me to the ER, days before we were to move into our new house. He took me in because I had trouble breathing, coughing, and just wanted to lie down and sleep. The rest of the week, I could'nt tell you about- since I hardly have any memory of it! I did spend 2 1/2 days( they released me on the 3rd evening) in the hospital being drained of my blood for tests and wheeled all over to be poked and probed. It was nice and queit though. :wink: Unfortunately the moe into the new house went terribly bad and I have no idea where 60% of things are...somehwhere in a box in the garage. Luckliy my parents were able to come from Hawaii to help me recoup, and help Dave with the move.So, sorry to be rambling, but right now, all my "human realm" friends dont understand what I am going thru right now. I went from feeling like a "normal" depressed, sick person to a sicker, more depressed person - not to mention an extra 10+ pound of water retention!So, basically something happened to cause my heart to stop pumping as hard as it should, normal pumpage is 70+% rate, I registered at 30%. This caused my heart to get big to make up for the bad pumping, making breathing faster and harder, casuing me to have shortness of breath. All this causes leaks and other problems, leading to high blood pressure, and a very high pulse---not to mention the water retention-- which causes very bad dry hacking coughs that kept me awake for days!So, now I am still working with bunch of specialist, one who I call the 'reeper"- my cardiologistm just becuse he looks like one of those creepy old men (like the preacher guy in the "Poltergiest" movie.having a heart/cardio MRI next week, hopefully it will give us some ideas what caused this to happen so we can control it correctly.
And of course, being a web addict I have found that the prognosis can be as early as 4-5 years for death. THIS SCARES the shit out of me. I know not everything it true and legitamate, and I an only 36 years old, but I am literally writing my "bucket list" here, I am freaking out and the only thing that is truley grounding me are my Koi in my bakyard pond. I go out 3x to see them, talk, and meditate with them. But, sooon ORegon weather is going to make that hard in the rain.
Still rambling.....On the bright sidem .I did win a local scrapbook queen contest and got a gf for $250 for the store. I bought 10 sets of cubicle type storage untis for my new scrpabook room. hopefully, I'll have enough strength to put these together and set up my space.

I'm Alive!

Amazing but true, after a month of having trouble breathing, I ended up at the ER!
I can't remember much of that week, I was so out of it.
And this all happened during the first week of our move to our new house!

Anyway, I ended up being hospitalized for almost 3 nights.

My diagnoses were : Congetive Heart Failure, High Blood Pressure and Heart rate, elevated liver toxins, Urinary track infection, gallstones, anemia, and jaundice.....right on deaths door step. But of course I didn't see any reason that I had to be there in the hopital and was pretty perturbed about the whole thing.

Meanwhile, my parents, visiting from Hawaii, as well as my brother Matt and his family were busy moving all of our lovely crap from our old house to the new.
Boxes were filled, stored, hid, buried, etc... and know I have no idea where anything is. Especially that ELUSIVE OVERDUE library book that is haunting me!

And since I have been back home, nothing to drastic has changed. I have been given new heart / blood pressure medications, take off some Lupus / Connective tissues medications......and still feel as crappy as ever. And maybe even, if possible more crappy. I have no energy. Walking is a hardthing to do, and those stupid stairs in this house is killing me! I huff and puff like the big bad wolf at the top, until I catch my breath.

I have no idea if we will ever get this house unpacked, or if I will even feel the same healthwise.
But, I do know that I enjoy my new backyard, and my new five fishy Koi friends who are my daily therapy and joy.

Tomorrow is the day!

We get the keys to our new house!

We are no longer renters, but home owners!

It's been a long summer hunt for the perfect house.

And I think we found it!

I have been so stressed out, that I haven't scrapped ANYTHING since may!

Amazing but true.

Can't wait to get my new scrapbook room set up so I can get scrappin' again!

I have about 10 scrapbook kits sitting in their boxes, waiting to be played with.

Hopefully the move will go smoothly, as we are only moving less that 2 miles away from our current house.

Anyway, sorry for not updating my blog lately. I'm sure once we get moved in, AND Sienna goes back to school, I'll have plenty of time for the blog and scrapping!

BTW~ I am currently NOT designing for any company, so if you like my work, please let me know, I would love to design for you! ;)

Cafe Prima April contest !!

Hello everyone,
Cafe Prima will hold a contest every month from now on.
This month, fellow DT Sanderijn, had the honour to create a great contest.
Here are the terms and conditions:

* Create a layout with at least two different patterned papers.
* Include Journaling of at least 30 words.

2. You have until April 30th to enter.

Goodbye March!

I can't believe that it's almost April!

Soon it will be summer, and that just makes no sense, because it's still raining and cold here in Oregon!

Here is a photo of Sienna and all her loot from the Easter Bunny!

Boy, she sure gets spoiled!

She got a "High School Musical" themed basket, which included 2 Dolls, a star pillow, a DVD, pencils, and a scrapbook! And not to forget candy.

We also had fun hunting for eggs in the cold & wet yard, and coloring eggs with a tye dye glitter kit.

Sienna was also on Spring Break this past week, but we were all sick, so we didn't get to do too many fun things. But, I promised her that I would take her to see the "Horton" movie soon, and visit the newborn kittens at her Dad's workplace.

I hope you all are keeping healty, it's been a long season of colds so far for us.

Hopefully this last round of antibiotics will do me some good.

Cafe Prima is the internet’s premiere retailer of Prima Marketing Inc., products.

We celebrated our first anniversary this past summer and are continuing to expand our vision and reach. To that end, we are seeking 2 to 4 talented designers to join our existing team of 6 outstanding women.

Cafe Prima Design Team Members are asked to create 21 projects per 6 month term (3 per month plus 3 additional in one 6 month term) and write 12 blog posts and 3 newsletter articles per 6 month term. With a few exceptions, concurrent membership on other design teams is permissible.

In return, Design Team members receive free products for all of the required projects, quarterly product bonuses, a substantial discount on store purchases, website promotion, a Cafe Prima email account, access to a Private Design Team Message Board, free admission to the CHA Vendor Faire at the Winter and Summer shows, and more!

To be considered, please submit images of 3 to 4 samples of your scrapbook work. Samples should include at least one scrapbook page and one altered item. Image sizes should be a minimum of 600x600 pixels at 72 dpi and a maximum of 1000x1000 pixels at 72 dpi.

One project per image, please. Please submit at least two photos of projects that feature a prominent use of Prima products. Submit all attachments in one email if possible, and in a maximum of two emails.

Here Kitty, Kitty....

This is our 17 year old cat Einstein, we call her "Steiner".

We thought she was a boy kitty, until the vet told us otherwise. LOL, hence the nickname.

I am really happy how these photos turned out, showing her beautiful blue eyes.
And also excited how good these are, without any editing done to them at all.
Still trying to figure out my camera, so everytime I use it it's an experiment.

Winter visitor...

Seems like we have a bird sanctuary in out backyard this winter.
We have 2 birdfeeders (a suet cake and thistle feeder) that bring in numerous species of birdlife.
We have at least a dozen different species of birds, making appearences everyday.

The photo above is one of our favorite visitors, the Male Townsend's Warbler (Dendroica townsendi). The yellow of their markings is so beautiful in this dreary Oregon winter weather.
{Townsend's Warblers are medium-sized wood-warblers, measuring about 5 inches in length. Adult males are strikingly patterned, with broad yellow eyebrow and mustache stripes, set off against a black crown, ear patch, and throat. Short arcs along the bottom of each eye are also bright yellow. Lower breast is yellow, belly is white, with black stripes along the sides and flanks. The male's back is olive-green. Each wing has two white bars. Tail has white outer feathers, which may be conspicuous in flight. Females and immature males resemble adult males, but are duller overall, with olive-green markings on the head and face, instead of black, and yellow throat with variable amounts of black.}

I downloaded this free Wild Sorbet Digital Kit at Memory Makers Magazine.com. Along with their cool kit and clip art from my computer, I created this LO.
It was fun, but I definitely missed the physicality of creating a "normal" scrapbook page.

My next adventure will be a "hybrid", using both regular and digital elements to create a layout.

It's time for another contest!!
For the month of February, TS is sponsoring the We Love Our Members Contest.
This will be a 4 week contest....and no one will be eliminated!

The first challenge will be issued on Friday, Feb. 1st.
All subsequent challenges will be issued on Fridays.
You will have until the following Thursday at 11:59 EST to upload your week's creation into the appropriate area of the gallery.

The DT members and Leslie will then judge the creations on a 10 point scale. You will be judged in three categories- Creativity, Photography, and Overall Design/Appeal.
Your individual category scores will be added up for a total weekly score. Scores for each round will not be revealed.

Please pay close attention to the requirements of each challenge. Ask questions if you need clarification. Any deviation from the challenge requirements listed will result in disqualification. This is only to be fair to those who follow all of the requirements.

All submissions must be original designs. Layouts submitted for any round of the contest must be posted only in the TS gallery until the end of the contest and must not be published, posted or entered in any contest, in any magazine or on any website until the end of the contestant's participation in the contest.
Exception: layouts may be posted on your personal blog.

As for the prizes...the participant with the most points at the end of the 4 weeks will be awarded a prize pack valued at over $100 as well as the April Guest Design Team position.
There will also be a random prize drawing from all other participants.

In order to be eligible to participate, you must have at least one layout uploaded into the TS gallery (you have to register separately for this from the MB) and a minimum of 50 posts on the MB by the start of the contest on Feb. 1st.

and my dream came true!

It did actually snow here in Portland on Christmas!

This is only the 6th time ever recorded snow on Christmas Day,
here in the Portland Metro area, since 1940!

Unfortunately, it "stuck" only for a few hours,
but long enough for Sienna to get out and play ~ until she got cold and wet,
and me to take some cute photos of her.

For Uncle Jr.

Sienna and I just got back from Hawaii, to pay our final respects to my God Father, and Uncle, Salvador Jr. Mendiha. It was a sad but also happy time for us. In going back home to Hawaii, I was able to introduce Sienna to many of her relatives, most who only saw her as a baby. She also had time to get to know her cousins from Arizona, who were also visting to attend the funeral.

I will always remember my Uncle's good humor and smiling face. Although he never had children of his own, he was always so kind and gentle to his newphews and nieces. And he was always asking aboutmy daughter, Sienna, whenever I spoke with him on the phone. In fact, the last time we were in Hawaii, we stopped to say "hi" to him at his apartment. When he saw that Sienna was there in the car, he quickly went in his apt., and returned with a doughnut (long john) for her. It's hard to believe that he is gone, as it always is, when it is a loved one. And it always make you appeciate the ones that are still here and makes you rethink about your life and how you are living it.

Saying goodbye is always hard, but believing that one day you will be reunited, makes it a little easier.

So, again I will say ~

Goodbye Uncle Jr.,

I love youand will miss you!

And Thanks for the doughnuts!

Our 12 Days of Christmas Cyber Crop is underway! The new Design Team has had a blast planning for this and is so excited to get started on their first cybercrop!

The first challenge was issued today, with one challenge/game/or make-n-take being issued over the next 11 days. You will have until midnight (EST) Sunday, Dec. 16 to upload your creations into the 12 Days of Christmas Crop gallery to be eligible for any prizes. For every creation you complete and upload into the Crop gallery, you will get one entry for the Cyber Crop grand prize from Treasured Scrapbooking!!

TGIF!
It's been a stressful month for me healthwise. I have been sleeping alot, thanks to my Lupus, which is a chronic disease, affecting my immune system. I also had a bad reaction to a flu shot, which gave me a fever for 3 days. No biggie, for a healthy person ~ but add it to a person who already suffers from aches and pain on a daily basis, it is a BIG deal.
Anyway, the rain has returned here in Oregon, and it fits my mood.
Hopefully I will start to feel better, esp. when my craft room gets put back together.
Sorry for the gloom today.
